Paycheck inputs
How do you get paid?
i
Income mode
Most people know an annual salary or hourly rate better than gross per check. Pick the mode that matches what you know — we derive gross wages for each paycheck from that. |
|
|---|---|
Annual salary ($)
i
Annual salary
Your yearly wage before taxes (what the offer letter or raise usually quotes). Gross per check = salary ÷ pay periods. |
|
Hourly rate ($)
i
Hourly rate
Base hourly wage. Combined with hours per week and pay frequency to estimate gross per check (no overtime modeled). |
|
Hours per week
i
Hours per week
Typical scheduled hours. Weekly pay = rate × hours; other frequencies scale from a 52-week year. |
|
Gross pay per paycheck ($)
i
Gross per paycheck
Wages before taxes on one stub — useful if you’re matching an existing paycheck. |
|
Pay frequency
i
Pay frequency
How often you are paid. We annualize wages, estimate yearly tax, then divide back per check. |
|
Filing status
i
Filing status
Used for federal brackets/standard deduction and state brackets that differ for joint filers. |
|
Pre-tax deductions / paycheck ($)
i
Pre-tax deductions
401(k), traditional HSA/FSA-style amounts per paycheck that reduce income-tax wages in this sketch. Social Security and Medicare still use full gross (typical for elective deferrals). |

Results explained
Enter annual salary (default), hourly wage, or gross per paycheck — we derive gross per check from that and your pay frequency. The headline is estimated take-home for one period after TY2026 federal income tax, Arizona state income tax (flat 2.5%), and Social Security and Medicare (annualized, then divided by pay periods).

How the estimate is built
Annual gross = pay × periods. Federal taxable ≈ annual gross − pre-tax − federal standard deduction. Federal tax from TY2026 brackets. State tax from this state’s pack. FICA: 6.2% SS up to $184,500 + 1.45% Medicare (+ 0.9% Additional Medicare above the filing-status threshold). Per-check taxes = annual ÷ periods. Net ≈ gross − pre-tax − federal − state − FICA.
Example scenario
A single filer at $3,000 biweekly with $150 pre-tax is annualized, reduced by Arizona’s federal-aligned standard deduction sketch, taxed at 2.5% on state taxable income, and combined with federal + FICA per check.
FAQ
Why flat 2.5%?
Arizona moved to a single individual income tax rate (2.5%) for most wage income. This calculator applies that rate to taxable income after the state deduction sketch — not county or city add-ons.
Does Arizona tax Social Security?
Arizona generally does not tax Social Security benefits, but this paycheck tool models wage income only.
Is this my exact withholding?
Employers use IRS Pub. 15-T, your W-4, and payroll system rules. We annualize wages, estimate liability, and divide by pay periods.
