Results explained
CHA₂DS₂-VASc assigns points for heart failure, hypertension, age bands, diabetes, prior stroke/TIA/TE, vascular disease, and female sex. Age ≥75 and prior stroke each contribute two points. It is a risk score, not a treatment order.

FAQ
Does female sex always add a point?
In the classic score yes (Sc); guidelines interpret scores with sex in mind.
What about valvular AF?
Different frameworks may apply — this is the common nonvalvular teaching score.
