- Enter body weight.
- Add ounces for a hard training day if you want.
- Pick climate.
- Split the ounces across the day — this is not chug-it-now advice.
Results explained
Baseline = 0.5 oz × lb. Then add activity ounces and a heat adder. Cups = oz / 8. Liters = oz × 0.0295735. Coffee and food water are not subtracted.
Quick reference: water
Eight-by-eight cups is folklore; this page scales with weight.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| 0.5 oz per lb | Baseline |
| 8 oz | 1 cup |
| Hot adder | +16 oz |
| Very hot adder | +24 oz |
Urine color is a better field check than forcing a number.
How the estimate is built
oz = 0.5×lb + activity + climate; cups = oz/8.
Example scenario
165 lb, +12 oz training, temperate → 82.5 + 12 = 94.5 oz (~12 cups).
