Results explained
Net area is L × W × pieces (or your total). Overhang adds approximate front-edge area (length × overhang depth per piece). In total mode, overhang assumes a ~2 ft deep run to estimate front edge length.

How the estimate is built
Net = L × W × pieces (or entered total). Overhang area ≈ length × (overhang in ÷ 12) × pieces. Total = net + overhang.
Example scenario
One 8×2 ft run with a 1.5 in overhang: net 16 sq ft + (8 × 0.125) = 17 sq ft takeoff.
FAQ
Do cutouts reduce sq ft?
Usually not for pricing — shops charge for the full field and still cut the sink.
Island with seating?
Enter the full finished depth including the seating overhang, or set overhang to the cantilever inches.
Laminate vs stone?
Same area math. Stone may need more waste for seams and bookmatching.
